Types of Astra access
Types of access in Astra are defined by their use:
- Everyone with an active University Internet ID and password can request a room for an event or activity that is not an academic class in Astra. No special training is needed to request a room for an event.
- Additional access is reserved for administrative room schedulers who schedule classes and/or events for their departmentally-owned spaces.
There are three levels of access in Astra:
- Events Only: This access is for college and department administrative staff who are responsible for managing the scheduling of events or activities that are not academic classes into a departmentally-owned space using Astra.
- Academics Only: This access is for college and departmental schedulers who are responsible for assigning departmentally-owned classroom space to academic classes using Astra.
- Events and Academics: This access allows for both scheduling of events and academic classes into departmentally-owned rooms using Astra.
Training
To request a classroom for an event, no special access or training is required. See event scheduling for instructions and tutorials.
To gain Astra scheduling access, you must complete training and submit an Astra Access Request Form.
- University Staff Access: To schedule departmentally-owned spaces for academic and/or event purposes, there are two training modules available:
- Astra Academics: This access is for college and departmental schedulers who are responsible for assigning departmentally-owned classroom space to academic classes using Astra.
- Astra Events: This access is for college and department administrative staff who are responsible for managing the scheduling of events or activities that are not academic classes into a departmentally-owned space using Astra.
- Student Worker Access: To schedule departmentally-owned spaces for academic and/or event purposes:
- Student workers may get access by doing a supervisor-led training and filling out the Astra Access Request Form.
- They are also welcome to register for and attend the same Astra training modules offered to University staff.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues logging into Astra, first consider the following suggestions:
- Remove certain special characters in your password.
- The authentication cannot process certain special characters in passwords like #$%^&*(). If you have an uncommon special character in your password for your University Internet ID, please change it and try logging in to Astra again.
- Make sure you are listed in the University’s directory.
- If your University Internet ID does not exist in the directory, you will not be able to log in to Astra. To add yourself to Active Directory, go to Manage your Internet Account Options, choose “Active Directory Account Options,” and follow the prompts.
- Delete the browser history on the browser you are using and try again.
If these suggestions do not resolve your issue, contact OCM at [email protected].
