In addition to the Akerman Hall Fire/Life/Safety upgrades and new HVAC system, the general purpose classrooms were completely updated. The classrooms received new windows, acoustical ceilings, light fixtures, markerboards, paint, carpet tile, student seating, and card readers. The stages in classrooms 209 and 319 were also removed during the renovation.
To consolidate classroom inventory Akerman 309 was transferred to Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM) and rooms 227 and 327 were converted to general purpose classrooms.
The classroom work began in May 2010 and was completed August 2010.
The HVAC work was completed August 2011.
