Heating and cooling throughout the different seasons is determined by Facilities Management (FM). Generally, seasonal heating and cooling transitions last six weeks, twice a year:
- Cooling to heating happens in October
- Heating to cooling happens in April
During these transition periods, building occupants may experience some discomfort as many buildings cannot respond quickly enough to rapid changes in weather. In many cases, particularly in older buildings, the heating systems lack adequate controls to adjust to temperature changes on a day-to-day basis.
