Furniture and supplies

Furniture in general purpose classrooms is set up based on several factors, including:

  • Capacity requirements
  • Space limitations
  • Building and fire codes

The Office of Classroom Management (OCM) is not able to alter the quantity of furniture in your general purpose classroom or provide additional furniture to support events held in classrooms.

If you find the classroom furniture inadequate or have specific needs, contact us to arrange for a different room.

Supplies

If your classroom is low on markers, chalk, erasers, or batteries, contact us. We will ensure the supply is restocked within the next two days. If your classroom is completely out of any supplies, let us know and we will place new supplies as soon as possible. Please dispose of any dried out or non-functioning markers. This is the custodian’s cue that markers need replacing.

Missing or damaged furniture

If any of the furniture in your classroom is missing or damaged, please contact the OCM Classroom Support Hotline at 612-625-1086 or [email protected].

Temporary furniture

Temporary tables or other furniture requested in addition to our established room setup can be arranged through your department or by contacting off-campus vendors. If you use additional furniture, please remember to leave enough space for users to get out of a room in case of an emergency.

If you do use additional or temporary items in an OCM classroom, it must be promptly removed afterward. OCM is not responsible for and cannot guarantee the safety of property left in general purpose classrooms.

Accessibility and classroom furniture

OCM works to ensure the needs of all classroom users are met. If you have an accessibility or ADA request, we encourage you to register through the Disability Resource Center who can request additional furniture on your behalf.
